The Somali community centre at Selby centre empower Somali women through education, support, and services. They hope to strengthen the capacity of Somali women in Haringey and the surrounding areas to become professionally strong, culturally, respected, and socially confident.
Set up in 1992 in a former school building, they are a multi-purpose community and social enterprise centre led by the community and third sector organisations – a rich mix primarily from BME, refugee and other historically excluded communities in Tottenham, Haringey, North London
Nafsiyat, a pioneering charity offering intercultural therapy in over 20 languages to people from diverse cultural communities. Nafsiyat works hard to provide help to people experiencing psychological and emotional problems and who may be finding it difficult to access help because of barriers such as culture or language. Our intercultural therapy service is delivered by therapists who work across different cultures and languages. In some instances, a therapist might share your specific language and cultural background.

MECE Women’s Centre is a women-only organisation that aims to empower Turkish, Kurdish and Cypriot Turkish women as well as BAMER (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee) women by providing culturally sensitive specialist services. In particular, IMECE specialises in providing support for women experiencing harmful practices such as forced marriage, ‘honour’ based violence etc.
IMECE also provides advice and information services to Turkish, Kurdish and Cypriot Turkish women in Turkish as well as providing specialist advice and crisis intervention of all forms of violence against women and girls including harmful practices.
